About FSSAI Food License

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The FSSAI is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety.

An FSSAI license or registration is mandatory for any Food Business Operator (FBO) in India. This 14-digit number must be printed on food packages and displayed at the food premises.

What is FoSCoS?

Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) is the enhanced online platform launched by FSSAI, replacing the older Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS). It's a one-stop portal for all food safety regulatory needs, aiming to simplify processes for businesses.

Types of FSSAI Licenses:

Basic Registration: For small FBOs with an annual turnover up to ₹12 lakh. This includes petty retailers, hawkers, temporary stall holders, home-based food operators, etc. Our portal primarily assists with this type.
State License: For FBOs with an annual turnover between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 crore. This includes small to medium-sized manufacturers, storage units, transporters, retailers, restaurants, marketers, etc., operating within a single state.
Central License: For FBOs with an annual turnover above ₹20 crore, or those operating in multiple states, importers, 100% export-oriented units, operators at central government agencies, airports, seaports, etc.
